According to Nagaland Post, police arrested seven suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) militants, including two women cadres identified as Kaphmlin Rongmei and Kekhrienei-u- Keditsu, at Lotha Colony, near Signal Basti in the Dimapur district on July 18. The others were identified as Aboi Singh, Simon Singh, Johnson Singh, Dejan Singh, Hojai Tomba Singh. Police also recovered a country made 7.56-pistol with four live rounds from their possession.

Suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) militants fired upon cadres of the rival National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) when the latter were alighting from a local taxi near Agri Colony junction at PR Hill in the Kohima district on July 23, reports Nagaland Post. One NSCN-IM cadre and the taxi driver were injured in the incident. Later, police recovered one live and 15 empty shells of AK ammunition and one empty shell of M20 pistol from the spot.

According to the outfit, the biggest success achieved in the latest round of talks was the agreement that the Constitution of India would not be imposed on the Nagas and the NSCN-IM too will not insist on their proposed Constitution.

While five representatives of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) took part in the meeting, the rival National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) and Naga National Council did not attend the meeting.

Further, charging the rival NSCN-IM with always violating the peaceful environment, Jami said the Khaplang group would accept the five-point resolutions of the civil society groups if the NSCN-IM seriously upholds the same.

According to Nagaland Post, negotiations between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) held at Circuit House in Dimapur on July 31 agreed on extending the existing cease-fire indefinitely with effect from August 1. The outfit’s leader V.S. Atem told the media that both the sides decided to extend the truce for an indefinite period subject to progress in the political process. He added that the talks were held in a very cordial manner with free and frank exchange of views and the next round of talks will be held soon but the date and venue is yet to be decided.
