The Hindustan times has reported that on April 2, armed cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoists (CPI-Maoist) laid siege to the Nadaul railway station in the Patna district of Bihar for nearly two hours. No casualties reported in the incident. Railway Chief Public Relations Officer A.K. Chandra said Maoists had seized the railway station on the Patna-Jehanabad border, around 10.30 pm after chasing away the Station Master Rajesh Kumar and other staff." Services on the Patna-Gaya section had resumed after remaining suspended for nearly two hours," he added. The Maoists left behind their outfit’s literature at the station.

A Deputy Superintendent of Police, Akhileshwar Prasad, was killed during an encounter with suspected cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the Rohtas district on April 3, according to Telegraph. Prasad was leading a police team to Matihar village on a tip-off that kidnappers of a boy were holed up in the village. Instead, nearly three-dozen Maoists were present in the village, planning an operation, the police added. Police recovered a carbine, three rifles and ammunition from the encounter site.

Cadres of the Communist Party of India (CPI-Maoist) blew up railway station and portions of a railway track in the Gaya district of Bihar on in the early hours of April 9 to enforce a strike called by them to protest against the arrest of their top leaders, according to Central Chronicle. The Maoists blew up portions of railway tracks and a halt station on the Gaya-Dhanbad section of Mughalsarai division in a bid to enforce the 24-hour Magadh bandh (strike) in Bihar to protest against arrest of their leader Guddu Sharma. Over 200 heavily-armed Maoists stormed the Bansi Nala halt station in Gaya district at around 2:15 AM, overpowered the railway employees on duty forcing them to move away and detonated dynamites to raze the one room structure to the ground, police said. They also blew up the lines in a stretch of few metres leading to disruption of railway traffic on the route since then, informed Superintendent of Police Amit Jain.

On April 24, the Madanpur block Janata Dal (United) president Ashok Singh and six of his supporters were killed by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres near Devjada village in the Aurangabad district. Maoists ambushed the convoy of Ashok Singh when he was returning after campaigning for zila parishad (district body) elections, for which he was a candidate. The Maoists also set ablaze the vehicle in which they were traveling. The CPI-Maoist has given a call for boycott of elections to the panchayati raj bodies scheduled for May.

In two separate incidents, Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres blew up a portion of the railway track and set ablaze a railway cabin in Bihar on April 25. Although no one was hurt during the attacks, the Maoists abducted three railway staff of Narganjo station, eight kilometres from Jhajha under Kiul-Asansol section of the Eastern Railway, soon after demolishing the cabin in the halt station. The hostages were, however, set free on April 26-morning. Jamui Superintendent of Police Sharukh Majid said two powerful bombs were also recovered from the tracks near Narganjo. "Two can bombs of 5 kg and 10 kg were fixed with the tracks and attached to detonators by a 100-metre-long wire," he said. In another incident, Maoists blew up railway tracks near Dashrathpur railway station on the Kiul-Bhagalpur loop section. The explosion reportedly occurred soon after Jamalpur-Kiul DMU Passenger passed from Dashrathpur station in Munger district. Due to the twin attacks, railway service remained disrupted for hours on both the sections.

According to Press Trust of India, nearly 200 cadres of the Communists Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) entered the Jandaha town of Vaishali district on April 28-midnight and attacked the local police station and robbed a bank. Two private guards were injured in the exchange of fire. According to Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirhut range), Gupteshwar Pandey, the heavily armed group of Maoists first opened fire on the police station to engage the police personnel, while another group headed for the Canara Bank branch located in the main market. He added that the insurgents used loudspeakers to warn the people against venturing out of their homes during the operation saying they had nothing against the public.

According to UNI, at least 17 Communist Party of India- Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were arrested in Vaishali district on April 29 during a special combing operation following the Maoist attack on a bank and a police station at Jandaha a day earlier. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Tirhut range), Gupteshwar Pandey, said on April 30 that of the arrested, 15 were from Thathan Mohalla while two people were from Subhai Mohalla, under the Sadar police station of the district.
