Chhattisgarh Chief Minister (CM) Vishnu Deo Sai stated on March 3 that the 'double-engine' government of Chhattisgarh will vigorously combat the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the state and eliminate the insurgents, amidst a recent surge in Maoist attacks in Bastar division of the state, reports The Times of India. The Chief Minister, during his address to the media in Jashpur, said, "Through infrastructure development initiatives such as roads, water, electricity, and connectivity, we are transforming villages once under the sway of Maoism, with the goal of permanently eradicating the insurgency. Maoists oppose the government's welfare schemes and hinder development efforts in Bastar. The state government is establishing base camps in remote Maoist-affected areas of Bastar to extend development initiatives. Although these proactive measures have drawn opposition from the Maoists, the state government remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate them."

On March 11, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) chargesheeted a top leader of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) from Telangana in a case relating to a conspiracy to promote left-wing extremism (LWE) in the country, reports The Hindu. Officials said Sanjoy Deepak Rao alias Sanjay Deepak Rao alias Vikas alias Anand alias Aravind, was a ‘central committee (CC)’ member of the CPI-Maoist. He has been chargesheeted in the NIA Special Court of Hyderabad. “Our probe revealed that the accused had actively recruited and radicalised other individuals to join the CPI(Maoist) in a systematic process and manner to carry [out] acts related to terror and violence, in conspiracy with other Maoist cadres,” an official release said. It added that he also raised funds to further the activities of the proscribed terrorist organisation, including the procurement of arms and ammunition. The case was initially registered by the KPHB police of Telangana following his arrest from the Malaysian Township Area in KPHB on September 15, 2023. A revolver with ammunition, multiple forged Aadhaar cards, a laptop and cash were seized from his possession at the time of his arrest. The NIA took over the investigation and re-registered the case on January 3, 2024.

Uncovering the truth behind the alleged Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) wall writings that were recently found in Siddipet District, Thoguta Police found that a man had written a banner and, on a wall, used the name of Maoists just to save his land from being taken over by Hetero Pharmaceuticals Limited, reports Telangana Today on March 14. The banner and wall writings were found on March 10 at Pedda Masanpally village in Thoguta Mandal (administrative division). In the name of Maoists, the accused had attempted to threaten the Hetero management. According to the Police, the family of Bonala Raju (34), who was working as a driver in Hyderabad, had six acres of land at Pedda Masanpally. However, his parents sold four acres and 23 guntas to Hetero in 2014. The family was cultivating a little over one acre. Since the family had no documents of the land in their possession, the Hetero management allegedly took that land too into their possession. The management of Hetero had refused to leave the piece of land to Raju’s family, even after several requests. The Police said that Raju, with the support of his friend Yash Ajay Mahat, wrote the banner and, on the wall, threatened the management on March 9 at midnight. The two were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
