An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gujranwala District of Punjab on October 27 sentenced a cadre of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Abid Hussain (22) to 30-year imprisonment for opening fire and injuringformer Federal Minister of Interior Ahsan Iqbal in the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N)Government in May 6, 2018, reports The News. The Gujranwala ATCalso ordered confiscation of assets ofAbid Hussain and imposed a fine of Rs 280,000 on him.The convict would have to undergo an additional six-month imprisonmentin case of his failure to pay the fine.According to a court official, Judge Syed Imran Shah handed down 27-year imprisonment to Hussain for shooting at Iqbal and another three-yearjail term for carrying illegal weapons.The judge said the convict made an assassination attempt on the Federal Minister of Interior.
