One person was killed in a blast on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on February 1, reports Dawn. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Tariq Jawad said that around eight to 10 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast. He said the explosives were planted on the footpath of CPEC road. An electricity pole was also damaged in the blast. However, The Khorasan Diary reported that an attempted suicide bombing was botched as the bomber, carrying the explosives, exploded on the CPEC route.
