Reports said a group of four to five militants tried to infiltrate into the Indian Territory under the covering fire from Pakistani troops and taking advantage of darkness. However, the troops retaliated effectively to neutralize the militants. There were no reports of any casualties or damage on the Indian side.

In a bid to infiltrate more militants, Pakistani troops continued violation of ceasefire along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch District by targeting Indian posts on May 12, reports Daily Excelsior. “Pakistani troops resorted to firing from small arms on four Indian posts along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch District from 9.40 pm last night,” official sources said. Intelligence sources said that the ceasefire violations and firing by Pakistan were aimed to help militants infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir from across the border from the "launching pads" along LoC where they are waiting to crossover. There are also inputs that bids to engineer attacks by Pakistan's 'Border Action Team' (BAT) on forward posts and patrolling parties are being planned from across the border, they said.

Pakistan Army on August 5 violated ceasefire and opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) at Shahpur Sub Sector in Poonch District, reports Daily Excelsior. Official sources said Pakistan Army started heavy firing on half a dozen forward Indian posts in Shahpur Sub Sector at 11.30 a m using semi automatic and automatic weapons without any provocation. Army spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta said there were no casualties or damage on Indian side in unprovoked firing by the Pakistani troops. He added that the Indian side gave befitting reply to Pakistan firing using similar caliber of weapons.

Official sources said the Rangers broke two days lull in Arnia sector first at 8.20 pm by resorting to small arms firing at four Border out Posts (BOPs) of Border Security Force (BSF) for 10 minutes. As the BSF retaliated, later at 9.05 pm, the Rangers resumed heavy mortar shelling targeting entire Arnia sector including town and forward villages of Allah, Kaku-De-Kothe, Mashan-De-Kothe, Chenaz, Chingia, Treva, Sei and Devigarh in the District. About a dozen shells fell in Arnia town and Main Market while four shells fell near Arnia Police Station. However, there were no reports of any casualties as people of Arnia town and forward villages have already migrated to safer areas.
