Task Force arrested two persons, identified as Yadaiah and Srinivasa Reddy, at Tolichowki suburb of Hyderabad city (Hyderabad District) and seized 1495 gelatine sticks, 750 detonators and 50 boosters from their possession on January 22, reports The Times of India.According to Task Force inspector Ramchandra Reddy, the accused, Srinivasa Reddy, had license to purchase explosives for use in construction blasting. ''He violated the license by selling the explosives to outsiders,'' the inspector said. The accused along with the seized material was handed over to Golconda Police for further probe.

Three Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including two women militia members and an armed squad leader, were arrested from a forest area in Khammam District of Andhra Pradesh, bordering Chhattisgarh, on January 22, reports zeenews.india.com. The accused, M Masa, is a member of the ‘Venkatapuram Area Committee’ of CPI-Maoist, and is carrying a reward of INR 20,000. The two women militia members have been identified as M Parvathi and M Soni. They were apprehended by a Special Police team from Dummagudem and Korkatpadu forest area of the same District.

A top-ranking Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) leader Marpu Venkataramana alias Jagadish was arrested by the District Police at Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam District on May 9, reports The Hindu. Venkata Ramana, who is carrying a reward of INR 2 million on his head, had served as East Division Committee secretary in the past. He is now a State Committee member of the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC). “He was involved in a number of encounters in the past including the Gunukurai encounter. He had sustained a leg injury and was taking treatment at some undisclosed place. He was arrested while trying to escape from Anakapalle,” Narsipatnam Officer on Special Duty (OSD) A.R. Potluri Kranti alias Bhavani, a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre who is wanted in several cases of attacks on Government properties and Police personnel in Odisha, was reportedly arrested at her residence in Guntur District on May 21 by a team of Police which came from Malkangiri District of Odisha, reports The Hindu. She has a total 18 cases and was acquitted in all but one of them. Bhavani was recently released from the Central Jail in Visakhapatnam and has since been staying in Guntur. The local Police were tight-lipped about the arrest.

Kurasam Mothi Bai alias Madhavi (40), Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) south Bastar division committee secretary and wife of North Telangana Special Zonal Committee (NTSZC) secretary Chandranna, and two others were arrested by the Police after a 20-km-long chase on the Bhadrachalam-Kothagudem main road near Palvancha town in Khammam District on June 3, reports The Hindu. According to Police sources, the other two arrestees were identified as A. Prudvi (22), a student of integrated MA course of Hyderabad Central University and his father A. Dharmaraju (50), a railway employee of Chirala in Prakasam District. A chance spotting of a four member Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) courier group by Indervelli Police on September 1 put the latter on the trail of a Maoist dalam (squad) moving in the dense Vaipet forest in Indervlli mandal (administrative unit) of Adilabad District, reports The Hindu. According to sources, the courier group comprised Gond tribal people from Bheempur village in the mandal and was taken into custody by the Police as they were proceeding towards a rendezvous inside the forest with a load of provisions for the Maoists. Sources said about 1 Maoists handed over INR 25,000 to the couriers, all from Bheempur, in the night of August 30 in a field between Bheempur and Domdari for making purchases. The Gonds shopped for rations, footwear, torches and medicines on September 1 but were spotted by the Police.

The truck was carrying 17,000 kg of ammonium nitrate. As per initial investigation, the explosive material was to be delivered to someone in Koraput District. The seized material was packed in 340 gunnysacks each weighing 50 kg. Truck driver Siba Swain and helper Gajani Nayak were arrested by the Police. Siba is from the Semiliguda area of Koraput District and Gajani is from the Orkel area of Malkangiri District. Speaking to The Hindu over phone, Koraput Superintendent of Police Awinash Kumar said interrogation was on to ascertain who had sent the cargo from Andhra Pradesh and to whom it was sent. “We will take help of the Andhra Pradesh police,” he added.
