An unspecified amount of explosives, a car and four motorcycles were reportedly seized from them. According to the Hyderabad police commissioner, R P Singh, by arresting these terrorists, a major plan to attack Americans visiting the State and incite communal tension through a series of explosions during the forthcoming Ganesha festival in the city was averted. The group also planned to target Jews and had reconnoitered the houses of some Jewish families in the Guntur district, the commissioner added. Singh also said that "Naseeruddin has been working clandestinely on behalf of LeT and their leaders Abdul Bari alias Abu Hamza and Shahed alias Abu Nidal, both natives of Hyderabad, currently operating from Saudi Arabia."
