As many as 26 different types of equipment were recovered after an encounter that broke out between the Chhattisgarh Police and Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in Useli Forests in the Amabeda area in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on January 29, reports Devdiscourse. After the encounter, the Maoists fled from the site, looking at a much larger number of security personnel, officials said. The District Reserve Guard (DRG) team recovered several types of equipment like batteries, solar plates and jerkins.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a joint operation with Chhattisgarh Police arrested seven cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), identified as Kalmu Satyam, Kalmu Joga, Madivi Manga, Madakam Aitha, Kikidi Joga, Vando Unga and Kalmu Bheema, from Kondavai village in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on February 2, reports latestly.com. "All the seven apprehended were Nimmalagudem's Revolutionary People's Council (RPC) militia members of the banned Communist Party of India (CPI) Maoist Party," the CRPF said in a statement, adding that Satyam, Joga, Manga and Unga are RPC members for the last three years; Aitha and Joga are RPC members for the last two years, while Bheema is an RPC member for the last year.

The Border Security Force (BSF) personnels recovered weapons and cartridges which were hidden by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on February 6, reports The Print. Based on intelligence input, the personnels of Company Operated Base (COB) Amabeda 135 Vahini launched a special operation in the area, and during the operation, they recovered a country-made pistol, a country-made gun (Desi Katta) and 30 live cartridges that were hidden 500 metres away in the west direction of the waterfall, Indraj Singh, Inspector General (IG), Frontier Headquarters (Special Operations), BSF, Chhattisgarh, said.

A villager, identified as Punem Lakhmu (48), was killed in a 'cross-firing' during an encounter between Security Forces (SFs) and cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Gundam-Chutwai forests of Tarrem region in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on February 8, reports The Times of India. Based on a specific input about the presence of Udham Singh, Maoist ‘commander’ of south Bastar division and his aides, joint forces of Special Task Force (STF), Commando Battalion for resolute Action (CoBRA) unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and District Reserve Guards (DRG) were launched a search operation. The Maoists tried to ambush the SFs by firing upon them leading to an exchange of fire from both sides. Lakhmu, a resident of Gundem village was caught in a 'cross-firing' and sustained bullet injury on his back and died on the spot.

Security Forces (SFs) diffused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on March 2, reports en.lalluram.com. Three Maoists, identified as Shivaji alias Roopchand Mandavi (32), Jayalu Ram Kashyap (22) and Sildhar Netam (21), were arrested by Police officials in the district on March 1, who during the interrogation disclosed about an IED planted in near Chihramod on the Chhotadongar - Madhonar Road under Chhotedongar Police Station area. The Police during a search recovered motorcycle, Naxalite banners, pamphlets and explosives from the arrested Maoists. It is also said that a number of cases in connection to arson murder and abduction have been registered against the three rebels.

Two commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) sustained injuries in the encounter that took place on March 9 between security personnel and cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) near Sakler village under the Kistaram Police Station area in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh, reports pragativadi.com. "Two commandos of CoBRA, Inspector Munesh Kumar Meena of CoBRA’s 202nd battalion and constable Amit Modak of CoBRA’s 208th battalion, suffered minor injuries in the encounter. Around five-six Maoists also sustained bullet injuries in the encounter, but they managed to escape into the jungles," the senior Police officer said in a statement. On March 12, a joint team of District Force, Special Task Force (STF) and the intelligence unit of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)'s Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) out of anti-naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation arrested three cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), identified as Barse Pojja (35), Podiyam Deva (35) and Sodi Bheema (24), from forest close to Tondamarka village in Sukma District, while in a separate location the team arrested Podiyam Mukka alias Mukesh (24) from forest near Pidmel village in Sukma District, reports latestly.com. Barse Pojja was ‘militia platoon commander’ and carrying bounty of INR 100,000 on his head. Police said, three cadres arrested from the forest of Tondamarka were suspectedly involved in killing of 14 security personnel in Kasalpad encounter under Chintagufa Police Station limits (December 1, 2014). Similarly, the cadre arrested from Pidmel forest was suspectedly indulged in planting Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in March, 2022.

On seeing the Security Forces (SFs), the Maoists opened fire, ensuing an encounter that took place for about 40 minutes. Acting on a specific input about the presence of Maoists in Kottalendra in a bid to carry out a major attack on National Highway-30 (connecting Sukma town to Konta), a joint team of personnel from Konta and Errabore Police Stations and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was dispatched in the area, Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunil Sharma said. When the patrolling team was cordoning off the forest area near Kottalendra, an exchange of fire broke out between the two sides, and seeing the SF personnel zeroing in on them, the Maoists escaped from the spot. The two devices were found under the Awapalli-Basaguda Road when a team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was out on a search operation. SFs had received a tip-off about the presence of rebels belonging to the Kerlapal Area Committee under the Darbha Division of the Maoists, including leaders like Chaitu, Barse Deva, and Jagdish, in the hilly forests of Gogunda, Simel, and Gatta Pal villages, said Dantewada Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) R K Barman. A District Reserve Guard (DRG) team spotted a Maoist camp on a hill near Simel, and when the SFs were trying to encircle it, a gunfight broke out, Barman said. However, the Maoists soon fled from the spot, he said, adding that ammunition, substantial quantities of food materials, and items of daily use, along with Maoist literature, were seized from the camps. Another Maoist training camp was also found on a hill between Gatta Pal and Paria villages, and the DRG team neutralised it. "The camp was spread over an area of two acres and could accommodate 80–100 Naxals. Sukma Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajat Nag said, "Police had received specific inputs about the presence of Maoists of the Jagargunda area committee in the forests of Tadmetla in the Chintagufa region of Sukma. Based on the information that they were hacking out a plan for a major attack, a joint team of battalion 203rd of the CRPF [Central Reserve Police Force] and DRG [District Reserve Guards] went out on an operation." When the SFs were crossing forests between Tadmetla and Minpa, a group of armed Maoists opened indiscriminate firing upon them, which was retaliated against, resulting in an encounter in which two Maoists were killed. SF personnel sanitised the area and recovered two bodies of male Maoists from the encounter site. The slain Maoists, who are identified as Sori Deva and Rama Deva, both residents of Tadmetla and ‘militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) cadres of the Jagargunda area committee, carried INR 100,000 cash bounty each on their heads, and murder cases were registered against them. Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Rai said that input was received about the presence of Maoists in Darbha division. He said the Maoists opened fire on the SFs, and an encounter ensued in the forests of Aranpur. "After the firing stopped and the cadres retreated into deep forests, security personnel recovered the bodies of two women Maoists along with an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle and a 12-bore rifle. Besides, a tiffin bomb, IED (Improvised Explosive Device) wires, ammunition, documents, and other items of daily use were also recovered," Rai added. Police said one of the Maoists killed in the encounter was identified as Kumari Lakkhe of the Malangir area committee and ‘area militia commander-in-chief’. "Kumari Lakkhe played an active role in many violent incidents and carried a Rs 5 lakh [INR 500,000] cash reward on her head. A 50-year-old Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Jaylal Dodi, was arrested by a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local police from the forests of Rajpur Tekanar and Jhori villages under the Dhanora Police Station limits in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh on November 26, reports indiatvnews.com. Dodi was an active aide of the Nelnar Area Committee of the CPI-Maoist, Police said. He was involved in setting three trucks on fire and attacking their drivers in the forests of Jhori village in January 2022, the Police added. The Police seized a bow and arrow and Maoist banners and posters from Dodi, the Police said.

An exchange of fire between CPI-Maoist and the Security Forces (SFs) took place in Bade Tungali Forest area under Jangla Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on December 2, reports etvbharat.com. Acting on information about Maoist leaders 'area committee member’ (ACM) Shankar and Rajesh of Bhairamgarh Area Committee along with 20 to 25 armed Maoists were hiding in the forests in Jangla Police Station area, the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighter Force, and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) left for the spot, and an encounter broke out between SFs and the Maoists in the Bade Tungali Forest. Following the attack, the Maoists left the camp and escaped. Later on, during the search, the joint forces demolished the Maoist camp and recovered bows and arrows, polythene for tents, medicines, uniforms, pouches, firecrackers, and items of daily use from the site.

The gunfight broke out in the forests of Nagaram and Kotta Palli villages when a team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), a unit of state police, along with the CoBRA 201 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Bastar Fighters, a police unit aimed at combating Left-Wing Extremism in Chhattisgarh, were out on an anti-Naxalite operation, police said.
