In a statement, district chairman of the ANNISU-R, Sarad Chhetri, said that no private school will be allowed to operate in the district. They also threatened to take action against public schools that charge fees. There are 26 private schools in Baglung and over a dozen have already closed down.

"We could not concentrate on development works due to the threats and terror," said Mayor Buddhi Raj Bajracharya. A Nepal Samacharpatra report added that the Maoists on May 14 warned all officials of Kathmandu metropolitan city and Kirtipur municipality to resign within 48 hours or face the consequences. Other reports said that the Maoist aligned outfit, 'Tamang Autonomous Janaparishad', has withdrawn its ban on Hindi films and Indian vehicles in the Tamang area. The Himalayan Times added that around 40 VDC secretaries of Morang district have been displaced from their respective areas to other places because of Maoist threats and lack of basic amenities.
