According to Nepal News, a socket bomb exploded outside the Vice President Paramananda Jha’s residence at Gaurighat in capital Kathmandu in the evening of August 28, injuring one person. Parwati Khatiwada, a resident of a house near the Vice President’s residence, received minor injury as the blast damaged the windowpanes of her room. However, the blast caused no damage to the Vice President’s residence. An armed outfit called Kirat Janabadi Workers Party claimed responsibility for the blast, saying Jha was targeted for taking his oath of office in Hindi.

Three high-intensity bombs were detonated in a series at Rajbiraj, headquarters of Saptari District in the Terai, in the evening of January 26, reports Kantipuronline. The first explosion occurred at Rajbiraj-1 around 6:25 pm. Three minutes later, another explosion occurred at the Shiva Shaktai electrical shop at Ward-3 and subsequently the third blast occurred at the backyard of the District court in Ward-7. One minor, identified as Pooja Das, was injured after being hit by splinters during the second explosion. Police estimated that property worth NR 400,000 might have been destroyed in the blast at the shop. The other two explosions did not cause any damage to properties, Police confirmed. One Parwan, who claimed to be the in-charge of a previously unheard group Mahan Madhesh Janakantri Party, claimed responsibility for the blasts.

The incident came a day after a bomb went off at Sahidmaidan (Army ground) in the town. However, no untoward incident was reported following the explosion that was planted on the way to the District Administration Office on September 4. Police said the explosion was carried out by 'Ranabir Shena', an underground armed group. Documents and leaflets of the armed group were recovered from the explosion site. According to the police, the pamphlets mentioned slogans like: "Cows cannot be slaughtered; Downfall of Prachanda".

The bomb exploded one Harka Bhadaur Mahata’s home, resident of Malakheti-8. According to the District Police Office Chief Uttam Bahadur Singh the socket bomb planted by Lal Bahadur Bohara, an ex army personnel, went off at around 5.30 (NST) in the evening. Bohara deserted the security forces - Nepal Police and Nepal Army - during the Maoist insurgency have been agitating demanding their reinstatement. Amongst the deceased are Manisha Oli, 8, Kabita Bohara, 12 and Chakra Bohara, 23, all residents of Malakheti-8. Lal Bahadur Bohara, Tek Bahadur Saud, Sudip Deuba, Laxmi Deuba and Bimala Devi Oli are amongst the injured. As ex army personnel Bohara himself is injured, it has not been known where the bomb was brought from and for what purpose.
