An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release stated that SFs conducted search operations in Pul Bela near Bahrain, Kuz Bama Khela, Mera Mai, Muz Durshkhela, Langar, Mashkomai and Chiakolai and killed four militants in the gunbattle. Three militants were arrested and a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession. The SFs also conducted search operations at Panr, Allahabad, Titawali, Dakorak, and Chbaghand Fazagat and arrested a militant.

The Police arrested a tribal elder along with his three sons involved in terrorism while recovering a huge cache of arms and five suspicious vehicles from their hideout in Khwasi Banda, according to Dawn. The district Police officer, Dilawar Khan Bangash said that they had received reports about the involvement of Khan Akbar's family in terrorist activities. The Police arrested them during a raid at the house of the tribal elder in Khwasi Banda in Jarma area of Kohat while seizing Kalashnikovs, pistols, repeaters and five suspicious vehicles parked at a secret place. The main accused Khan Akbar and his three sons Inamullah, Eid Akbar and Amanullah were later brought to Kohat. Preliminary investigations revealed that they had relations with the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and had registered themselves as internally displaced people to sneak into Kohat from Orakzai Agency in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in December 2009.

Two unidentified militants attacked a check post and killed a trooper of the Malakand Levies in the Gul Muqam area of Malakand District in North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on February 5, according to Daily Times. Sources said the militants opened fire on Levies personnel Hukam Said soon after approaching the check post, killing him on the spot. The militants then snatched gun from another personnel and escaped from the place on a motorcycle. However, the Levies Force and area residents chased the fleeing militants and arrested the duo. The arrested militants were identified as Qamar Zeb and Khalil Khan, residents of Dargai in Malakand. A pistol and two hand-grenades were recovered from the possession of the militants.

A police spokesman said the ammunition was recovered from a car. 41 mortars, 20 kilogrammes explosive, one mortar shell, two artillery shells, one pin of suicide vest, 50 metre cable, three electric detonators, batteries and four Russian made missiles (CND 12) were among the recoveries. The spokesman said the Police signalled the car (RLE-3046) on its way from Khyber Agency to stop at a police checkpost, but the driver instead of following the order sped away the vehicle towards the tribal region. On chasing by the police, he said the car’s driver left the vehicle and managed to escape from the scene.

A militant was killed and two passers-by were injured during a search operation in Matha Speen Khak area of Katlang tehsil (revenue unit) in Mardan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 19, reports Dawn. Sources said that Security Forces (SFs) got a tip-off about presence of a militant and launched a joint search operation in the area. The militant was killed when he came out of his house and tried to flee the area. The slain militant was identified as Fazal Qadir, son of Gul Qadir. Two passers-by, identified as Liaquat Ali and his son Junaid, sustained injuries during the operation, sources added. Police on December 11 recovered a pick-up truck packed with a tonne of explosives in Kohat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports Daily Times. Dilawar Bangash, the local Police Chief of Kohat, said the attackers intended to use the truck bomb to target religious processions in the city of Kohat marking the holy month of Muharram. Two suspects were arrested, Dilawar Bangash said, adding that two suicide vests were also seized in the operation.
