According to Dawn, two activists of the Lashkar-i-Islam were killed and three others wounded when supporters of the rival Ansaar-ul-Islam attacked a mosque with mortar shells in the Shah Kot area of Bara (a sub-division of Khyber Agency) in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on May 22. The Akkakhel mosque, commonly known as Dars Jumaat, was occupied by Lashkar-i-Islam on May 21 after a reportedly tactical withdrawal by their opponents from the Shah Kot area. The Ansaar-ul-Islam activists later regrouped in Sanda Pal and launched an attack on the mosque and its adjoining area with heavy weapons, using mortars and RP-35 shells. Maulana Mustamin, a leader of the Ansaar-ul-Islam told Dawn that a pre-attack warning was issued to residents of the area and they were asked to vacate the vicinity to avoid casualties. The caretaker of a Madrassa (seminary) near a site in North Waziristan which was the target of a suspected missile strike on June 19 has said that a total of 34 people were killed, and all of them were locals, according to Daily Times. Maulana Muhammad Amir, caretaker of the Ziul Aloom seminary in the Dattakhel area, said all those killed were local tribesmen, and the target was not a Madrassa, as reported in the press, but "a tent on a hilltop". However, the political administration of North Waziristan said that 30 "terrorists" were killed and 18 of them were foreigners, including Chechens, Uzbeks and Arabs, APP reported. Maulana Muhammad Alam, member of a peace committee monitoring implementation of the September 5, 2006-peace accord in North Waziristan, said the political administration "knows little about the air strike and the military says nothing. We don’t know what happened."

According to Daily Times, four Pakistan Army personnel, including a Major and a Lieutenant, were killed on July 6 in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack on a military convoy in the Dir district of North West Frontier Province (NWFP). "Four soldiers have been martyred in an IED explosion," said ISPR Director-General, Major General Waheed Arshad. He, however, denied that the attack was a reaction to the standoff with the Lal Masjid brigade in Islamabad. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to the locals, the outlawed Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) could be "behind the blast." Dir is a stronghold of the Jamaat-e-Islami and the outlawed TNSM. The attack is the second such in as many days and comes after cleric Fazlullah in Swat gave a call to his supporters for "jihad" on his illegal FM radio channel following the action against Lal Masjid. Agency reports added that Police said the suicide bomber, who was riding a bicycle, killed four security officials.

President Pervez Musharraf escaped another assassination attempt on July 6-morning when around 36 rounds fired at his aircraft from a submachine gun in Rawalpindi missed their target, according to Daily Times. However, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) denied that the president’s plane had been attacked. Police said that Gen. Musharraf’s aircraft took off from the Chaklala airbase for flood-hit areas of Balochistan and Sindh at around 10:15 am (PST) and came under fire soon thereafter. The rounds were fired by a sub machinegun 10.62 installed on the roof of a two-storey house, Fazal Manzil, in Asghar Mall close to the Islamabad Airport and the Chaklala airbase. Security force personnel subsequently seized a submachine gun, two anti-aircraft guns with tripods and two satellite antennas and arrested the house owner, Muhammad Sharif. Neighbours said that three bearded men, a woman and two children used to live in the house, but none of them were present when the troops reached there.

Balochistan’s Inspector General of Police Tariq Masood Khosa, said, "It was a suicide attack that was targeted at Chinese engineers working in Balochistan," and added, "It is premature to say who masterminded the blast. One can’t say if it was to avenge the military operation in Jamia Hafsa or was carried out by Baloch insurgents or Taliban elements. All options are under consideration." Local police sources said that a 50-kg bomb had been fixed inside the car. The blast also damaged 10 cars and temporarily disrupted the power supply to most of Hub. Two of the destroyed vehicles belonged to the Balochistan police while one of them was that of the Chinese engineers.

18 soldiers and two civilians died and 35 others, including nine civilians, were injured in a bomb blast aimed at a vehicle carrying Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel in the Swat district of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on October 25, according to Daily Times. The blast occurred at Nawan Killi, about a kilometer from Swat city, at around 2:45 pm (PST). It set off an explosion of ammunition carried inside the military truck, triggering bullet fire. The blast also damaged 25 shops, a service station, a CNG station and a petrol pump. "I suspect this was the handiwork of a suicide bomber… Part of the truck has been blown up. There is no crater to suggest that it was a roadside bomb. It has been hit from the side," Frontier Constabulary Commandant Malik Mohammad Naveed, whose force suffered most casualties, told Dawn. NWFP Home Secretary Badshah Gul Wazir said: "Investigations are on. But it appears to be the work of a suicide bomber, whether he walked up to the truck or rammed a vehicle into it is yet to be determined." Deputy Inspector-General of Police Akhtar Ali Shah said the evidence suggested a suicide bombing. An AFP report quoted a Swat administration official Fazlur Rehman as saying that 30 people had died in the blast.

Two suspected suicide bombers were killed in Haroonabad in the Bahawalnagar district of Punjab province early on December 30 when the devices they were carrying exploded prematurely in an apparent botched attack on former religious affairs minister Ejazul Haq, according to Daily Times. “My guess is that they were there to target Haq who had visited the area a day earlier,” Bahawalnagar District Police Officer Zafar Abbas told Reuters. Haq was in the area to campaign for the next month’s general elections and had already left his house, which is 200 yards away from the blast site, by the time the explosion occurred, Zafar told NNI. He is contesting for a National Assembly seat from Haroonabad as a Pakistan Muslim League-Qauid candidate. The police found scattered body parts and the wreckage of a motorcycle at the scene of the blast, and suspect that the bombers either met an accident or fell from the bike detonating the explosives.
