13 Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres have surrendered before the Police in two different locations at Sukma and Dantewada Districts of Chhattisgarh on June 11, reports The New Indian Express. In the first incident, eight CPI-Maoist cadres identified as Vanjam Bheema, member of the Naxal’s [Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] Platoon Number 4 in section B who carried a reward of INR 2,00,000 on his head, his wife, Madavi Kalawati, a member of the CPI-Maoist’s cultural outfit Chetna Natya Mandali (CNM) and six other lower-rung members of CPI-Maoist identified as Ravi, Kosa, Deva, Dirdo Ganga, Sodi Dula and Kawasi Deva surrendered before the Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh. Kawasi Deva surrendered with a muzzle-loading gun. All eight were given an encouragement amount of INR 10,000 each. In the second incident, five jan militia members of CPI-Maoist surrendered before the Police at Kirandal Police Station of Dantewada District in Chhattisgarh on June 11. All the 13 CPI-Maoist cadres have surrendered on the last day of the Jan Pituri week of CPI-Maoist.
