Minister for Home Affairs, Bal Krishna Khand has urged all political parties to take part in the May 13 local election so as to make the implementation of the federal democratic republic further effective, reports My Republica. Emerging from a meeting with Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, spokesperson for Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand, at the Ministry of Home Affairs on April 18, Minister Khand appealed to all political parties to participate in the upcoming polls to further institutionalize the federal democratic republic. Stating that the local level election will connect the general public with the local governments, the minister said that the people's representatives will play an important role in local development and those who will be elected from the upcoming elections should further work to develop their constituency. According to him, talks were being held with the leadership of the Chand-led party and Janamat Party led by CK Raut to contest in the upcoming polls. Neither of these parties has taken part in any election so far. "Both political parties are positive about participating in the upcoming poll," said Madhusudan Bhattarai, press coordinator of the Minister, quoting Minister Khand.
