The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel recovered 10.265 kilograms of heroin, worth around INR 500 million in the international market, from Mamdot area along the Indo-Pak international border (IB) in Ferozepur District of Punjab on February 19, reports The Tribune. BSF troopers reportedly spotted the movement of suspects along the border near Gatti Hayat village across the fencing on the intervening night of February 18 and 19. The troopers tried to apprehend them, but the suspects managed to flee into the Pakistan territory, taking advantage of dense fog. In the morning, a search operation was launched in which at least 10 packets of heroin containing the contraband were recovered.
