On December 14, the Criminal Court sentenced Adhuham Ahmed Rasheed to 23 years, six months in jail for the attempted assassination of Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed, reports Edition. On May 6, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attached to a motorcycle was detonated, injuring Nasheed and several others. Adhuham was involved in assembling the IED, in addition to attaching it on the motorcycle and then detonating it. Four charges were pressed against Adhuham. He had confessed and pleaded guilty to all four of them.
