One Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militant was killed in an overnight gunfight with Security Forces (SFs) in Uzrampathri Rajpora area of Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on December 14, reports Greater Kashmir. The slain militant was identified as Feroz Ahmad Dar resident of Shopian District. Dar had joined militant ranks in 2017 and was involved in many militancy related incidents.
Meanwhile, Army on December 14 identified the Pakistani militant killed in an ongoing gunfight with Security Forces (SFs) in the higher reaches of Rattan Pir area of Surankote sub-division in Poonch District of J&K as Abu Zarrara also known as Abu Zar, reports Greater Kashmir. An Army spokesman while confirming Abi Zar's killing in the encounter said that one AK assault rifle, four magazines, hand grenade "and other incriminating material" has been recovered in the ongoing operation.
Separately, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on December 14 informed the Parliament that 206 militancy related incidents were reported in J&K till December 5 this year against 244 in 2020, reports Greater Kashmir. The MHA, replying to a query, said that the estimated net infiltration in J&K this year was 28 bids till October 31 compared to 51 in the entire year of 2020. The MHA also informed that over 2500 people below 30 years of age were arrested under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act since 2018 till 2020. Maximum arrests during this period were in Uttar Pradesh (931) followed by J&K (366).
