On February 26, Election Commission (EC) announced that the General Election in Sri Lanka will be held before May 4, reports Daily News. EC Chairman, Mahinda Desapriya stated that five dates - April 25, 27, 28, 29 and May 4 has been suggested to the President for the general election as the Parliament dissolves on March 2 or March 3. Desapriya also stated that 154 new political parties have applied for the registration of the Election Commission as approved political parties.
