Terrorists threw a grenade at a Police post under jurisdiction of Gool Police Station in Ramban District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in the morning of August 2 (today), reports Daily Excelsior. In an official press statement, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh said that the Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) claimed responsibility of the blast in a purported letter recovered by the Police.
Separately, two anti-personnel mines and one 51 mm mortar shell were defused by a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the Army in Mendhar area of Poonch District on August 1, reports Daily Excelsior. The mines and shell were recovered during searches at Sangiot village in Balakote sector of Mendhar.
Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire at a flying object near the International Border (IB) in Kanachak sector of Akhnoor tehsil in Jammu District at 9.35 pm on August 1, reports Daily Excelsior. The unidentified flying object with a blinking light was detected as it tried to intrude into the Indian Territory from across the border. The BSF troops opened fire and the blinking light was not observed thereafter. A search operation was launched in the area along with Police and other agencies, however, nothing has been recovered so far.
