On August 1, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has filed charges against three people, Ismail Abdul Raheem (30), Ahmed Ismail alias Buru Ahandhu (39), and Ahmed Muaz alias Gut Mua, (40), for aiding in the 2014 abduction and murder of Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, (28), a reporter and 2017 murder of a blogger and rights activist Yameen Rasheed, (29), reports Sun.mv. Both the cases are under investigation by the Disappearances and Deaths Commission (DDCom) appointed by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 2018. Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, is believed to have been abducted and murdered on August 8, 2014. On April 23, 2017, Yameen Rasheed was stabbed to death in the stairwell of his residence in M. Spatulaof Male’ city.
