The Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has decided to withdraw from peace talks with the Central government, citing a complete lack of attention to their demands, reports India Today NE on January 3. Continuing their demands, the HNLC called for the lifting of the ban on the organization. They also demanded the withdrawal of all pending cases against HNLC leaders and cadres in both lower and higher courts throughout the state, with a specific focus on cases in Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills.
