Security Forces (SFs) on May 2 (today) neutralised an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Rajpora area of Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Greater Kashmir. The IED fitted in a box was detected on Rajpora road by a joint patrolling party of SFs. A Bomb Disposal Squad was called in that defused the IED without any damage.
Meanwhile, Police along with 34th Rastriya Riles of Army arrested one hybrid militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), identified as Yamin Yousuf Bhat, son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Gadihama in Kulgam District on May 1, reports Daily Excelsior. Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested hybrid militant was in contact with Pakistan based militants as well as local militants of outfit LeT and was tasked to execute militant incident. He was also involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the militants including transporting of arms/ammunition and explosive material of the militants in Kulgam. “Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol magazine, 51 rounds of 9 mm and 2 hand grenades were recovered from his possession,” a Police spokesman said.
Separately, SFs on May 1 arrested one hybrid militant Sheikh Sahid Gulzar of Muchhwa in Budgam of Nowgam in Srinagar, reports Daily Excelsior. A Police spokesman said that on a specific input, Srinagar Police and 50th Rastriya Riles of Army arrested Sheikh Sahid. “Incriminating material including pistol and live ammunition were recovered from him. A case has been registered under relevant Sections”, he said.
