On October 20, Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), ‘sub-zonal commander’ Sushil Oraon alias Birbal alias MLA, was arrested by the Police during a search operation along with an AK-47 and 78 bullets from a forest near Sikid village under Herhanj Police Station limits in Latehar District of Jharkhand, reports prabhatkhabar.com. Acting on the information that JJMP ‘supremo’ Pappu Lohra, ‘sub-zonal commander’ Sushil, Lovelesh, and Shiva, and 12 to 15 active militants have gathered in Sikid Forest under the Herhanj Police Station area to carry out some untoward incidents, a search operation was launched to arrest them. Arrested Sushil Oraon has a reward of INR 500,000. Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjani Anjan said that the Police have also arrested his associate Amresh Oraon, who had helped Sushil Oraon escape earlier. One AK-47, 78 bullets, 11 mobiles, one router, one manpack, one motorcycle, and a diary have been recovered from Sushil, and a country-made pistol and four bullets have been recovered from his associate. The SP said that the AK-47 recovered from JJMP ‘sub-zonal commander’ Sushil Oraon was looted from the Police. A total of 38 cases are registered against Sushil Oraon in various Police Stations in Palamu, Garhwa, and Chatra districts, and two cases are registered against Amresh.
