Former media personality Ravi Lamichhane has opened a new political party - the National Independent Party, which he announced amidst an event organized at the National City Hall in Kathmandu on June 21, reports My Republica. Lamichhane also demanded provisions for a directly elected Prime Minister and chief ministers, and before announcing the party, he said that he has joined politics not to change the system but to change the situation of the people. During the event, Lamichhane also publicized the party's proposed election symbol, a bell, and said "We will ring the bell in the minds of the corrupt". He also said that 21 members had been included in the central committee, however, Lamichhane has not made the names public yet, adds The Himalayan Times.
