The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Kohat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 20 sentenced a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant to 25 years in prison and also fined him PKR one million, reports The Nation. The convicted militant, Azizullah, had kidnapped 16 labourers who were working on a Jazz tower in Kurram District in June 2021. Later, 10 kidnapped men managed their release and escaped from captivity while the other six remained in the clutches of the TTP militants. In July 2021, the militants killed one labourer named Gulfaraz while they released the other five after receiving PKR seven million ransom. Azizullah was arrested during a raid in August 2021 and later the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) recovered PKR 6.7 million of the ransom amount from him.
