The Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) on January 29 named Zala Khan Afridi as its new head, after the outfit's chief Mangal Bagh was killed in a roadside landmine blast in Achin District of Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan on January 28, reports The Times of India. Afridi, a close associate of Bagh, was named as the new head after cadres of the outfit held a meeting at Bander area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The new head belongs to Akkakhel tribe of Bara tehsil in Khyber District. The shura (council) also nominated Bagh's son Tayyab alias Ajnabi as the new deputy commander.
