The Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha, Abhay, during his visit to Koraput District in the State on February 7, said there has been a significant decrease in Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) violence in the South-Western Police Range in the State, reports The Pioneer. The DGP visited the District to review the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) and the overall law and order situation in the region. The DGP said that the Odisha police have been successful in the ongoing anti-Maoist operations.
The Left-Wing Extremist (LWE) activities has also witnessed a reduction in Malkangiri District especially in the Swabhiman Anchal area. “We are hopeful and committed to make the State Maoist-free. We appeal the ultras to lay down their arms and return to the social mainstream. The State Government’s rehabilitation policy is one of the best in the country,” said the DGP.
