On February 9, fresh tensions erupted along Assam-Mizoram border leading to many houses set ablaze and many more injured in the clashes, reports Northeast Now. Clashes broke off between the locals of the disputed Bairabi-Zophai area in Kolasib District of Mizoram and Kachurthal in Hailakandi District of Assam in the afternoon. Though there are no clear details about the number of injured persons, but certain reports from both the state claim that three to ten persons were injured in the clashes. Reports further claim that 20 houses were gutted in Assam and six farm huts set ablaze in Mizoram. Earlier in August 2020, violent clashes had broken out along the Assam-Mizoram border at the disputed Lailapur-Vairangte area.
