The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres pasted posters at Pedabayalu village in Gangaraju Madugula Mandal (administrative sub-division) in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh, reports The Times of India on January 24. The posters bearing the name of the Pedabayalu-Korukonda Area Committee (PKAC) of CPI-Maoist gave a call to the public to boycott the local body elections, scheduled to be held in the month of February. The posters alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), at the Centre, and Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress (YSRC) party, in the State, have been observing the anti-people policies. Urging people to drive out the YSRC Government from the State, the posters alleged, “The governments have been trying to suppress the people’s movements by setting up of more number of the police camps in the district.” The posters also read that fake local body’s elections would not solve the problems of the people. Setting up of Police camps or mobile towers are not signs of development.
