Unidentified militants on September 18 managed to escape Security Forces (SFs) in Noor Bagh area of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), after firing several shots towards a Police team, reports Kashmir Observer. According to reports, a joint team of Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) laid a siege around Bagwanpora locality of Noor Bagh in the September 18-afternoon after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area. When the SFs started advances, the militants hiding in the locality fired a few shots before making a quick escape. A police spokesperson said that militants fled from the locality leaving behind their weapons.
Separately, J&K Director General of Police (DGP) on September 18 said the militants are looking for soft targets in order to create disturbance, reports Kashmir Observer. DGP Dilbag Singh said that as he asserted that every attempt of anti-national elements to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the union territory would be dealt with firmly. The DGP’s comments came a day after a civilian and a Policeman were shot dead in separate incidents in Kulgam District.
