On November 21, a National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Unification (NSCN-U) militant was arrested from Chattong village in Kanubari circle of Tirap District in Arunachal Pradesh, reports Northeast Now. The militant identified as Pongsa Wangpan was arrested on charges of extortion related calls made to traders, shopkeepers and public leaders of Deomali area. Extortion money of INR 58,000 and the bank account where the extorted money was deposited and other documents were recovered from the arrestee. According to Police official, Pongsa had been running an extortion racket in Deomali sub-division of Tirap district along with his brother and ‘self-styled private’ Honkai Wangpan.
