On March 8, Assam Rifles arrested one person identified as Sholen Haokip alias Lelin (40), along with two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from his possession, near Chikim village in Moreh in Tengnoupal District in Manipur, reports The Sangai Express. It is reported that Sholen Haokip was arrested by the security forces (SFs) during the follow up actions of the case pertaining to the assault of the two Muslim men by Kuki militants at Moreh on March 7.
On March 7, a truck transporting sand for construction of a barrack for the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) was hijacked and burned by Kuki militants along the Indo-Myanmar border near Moreh in Tengnoupal District in Manipur, reports Northeast Now. The driver identified Mohammad Elaa (30), and handyman identified as Mohammad Emin (29), were beaten by Kuki militants who accused them of being involved in illegal sand mining.They were reportedly stopped near Chahnou village, blindfolded, and abducted by Kuki militants.A video circulating on social media shows the driver and handyman being tied up and beaten with sticks.
