The Dadar Police in Mumbai registered an FIR against nine people, including Salim Qureshi, the brother-in-law of Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide Chhota Shakeel, on August 10, reports India Today. The FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint that the nine people forged documents to pay lower taxes on a property in Mumbai. Qureshi, who also goes by the name Salim Fruit, was earlier arrested by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) and is currently in NIA custody. The forgery case against Qureshi was filed by Mohammad Rafique Tambe who owns a building in the Null Bazar area of South Mumbai. He told the police that Qureshi and the other accused in the case cheated the state exchequer by using forged documents on the sale of a property to pay lower taxes.
