Security Forces (SFs) comprising of Police and Army recovered three AK-47 rifles, 12 AK magazines, two pistols, four pistol magazines, 350 AK rounds, 200 pistol rounds, 18 grenades and other incriminating material during a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Govind Nallah along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tarbal village of Gurez in Bandipora District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on August 11, reports Daily Excelsior.
SFs comprising of Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Nandpur in Ramgarh sector covering all the way border area up to Lala Chak, Rajpura in Ghagwal sector of Samba District of J&K on August 11 ahead of Independence Day amid suspected drone activities in the areas close to the International Border (IB), reports Greater Kashmir.
Police recovered a hand grenade during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) from the forest area of in Manyal Gali in area of Thanamandi of Rajouri District of J&K on August 11, reports Greater Kashmir. The search operation was launched by SFs on August 6 in the area.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on August 11, said that a high-level committee headed by Home Secretary, Shaleen Kabra has been formed to review cases of political persons in J&K but maintained that there is hardly any political prisoner and that those booked under CrPC, IPC for terror funding and militancy can’t be released, reports Daily Excelsior. The committee will look into the matter on a case-by-case basis.
Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on August 10, said that 57 local youths of J&K had gone to Pakistan on valid documents for studies or tourist visas but ended up becoming militants and asserted that three to four groups of militants had crossed from Pakistan to Rajouri-Poonch sectors, reports Daily Excelsior.
