Three Pakistani terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were killed in a “chance” encounter with Security Forces at Najibhat crossing in Kreeri area of Baramulla District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on May 25, reports Daily Excelsior. One Policeman also killed during the encounter. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar, said the encounter took place at Najibhat crossing naka (checkpoints) laid by the Security Forces (SFs). The three terrorists could have come to Srinagar and carried out some big attack, he said. The IGP said the terrorists were active in the hilly areas of Gulmarg for the last three to four months.
We were regularly tracking them, he said, adding, so far this year, 22 Pakistani terrorists have been killed in various encounters with SFs.
Separately, SFs on May 25 foiled an infiltration bid in Jumagund area of Kupwara District and killed three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists, reports Daily Excelsior. “Based on a specific input developed by Police regarding an infiltration attempt by terrorists in Jumagund village in Kupwara, the ultras were intercepted by the Army and police,” a police spokesperson said. Incriminating material, including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Meanwhile, Kashmiri TV actress Amreen Bhat (35) was shot dead by terrorists near her residence at Hushroo in the Chadoora area of Budgam District on May 25, reports Daily Excelsior. Amreen Bhatt’s 10 year old nephew was also injured in the attack.
Further, an Army soldier, identified as Naik Ajay Kumar, was injured in a landmine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch District on May 25, reports Daily Excelsior. Naik Ajay Kumar was part of routine patrol party when he stepped over the landmine leading to a explosion. He sustained injuries on both his legs.
