Three soldiers were injured during an exchange of fire with the militants in Chek Nowgam area in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) late on January 26, reports Daily Excelsior. An official said that as the joint team of Police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) approached the suspected spot on receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, where the hiding militants fired upon them, ensuing an encounter. The official said that a foreigner and two local militants were trapped, who managed to flee from the encounter site. South Asia terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported the exchange of fire incident on January 26.
