On March 3, two persons, identified as Arifur Rahman and Jahid Hasan were killed and at least 50 others, including seven Policemen were injured in a clash between Police and supporters of an Islamist organisations (identity not yet disclosed) who were demonstrating against a programme of the Ahmadiyya community at Ahmednagar in Sadar Sub-District of Panchagarh District in Rangpur Division, reports Dhaka Tribune. According to the Police, Ahmadiyyas organised a three-day Jalsa Salana, their annual gathering. The programme was scheduled to begin at noon. But leaders and activists of several Islamist organisations, including the Islamic Andolon Bangladesh, were staging demonstrations since March 2, demanding cancellation of the event. After Juma prayers on March 3, they gathered at the Chowrangi intersection, brought out a procession and started marching towards the venue and subsequently clash ensued.
