Two militants were killed when Security Forces (SFs) on August 2 conducted an area clearance operation in Zangutai area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after they received intelligence of presence of militants there, reports Geo TV. According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a soldier also sustained injuries. The slain militants were actively involved in fire raids and improvised explosive device (IED) explosions against SFs, the ISPR added.
Separately, one Police constable, identified as Dilawar Khan, was killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on policemen guarding polio workers administering vaccinations near Atal Sharif area of Kalachi Tehsil (revenue unit) in Dera Ismail Khan District on August 2, reports Geo TV. The gunmen managed to escape the scene.
Meanwhile, a soldier, identified as Naik Ghulam Mustafa (37), was killed after militants opened fire on a military post in Ghariom area of North Waziristan District on August 2, reports Geo TV. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the troops had responded in a befitting manner, while sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any militants.
