Unidentified groups torched and vandalised Ncell base towers in several Districts across the country on July 31, reports Kathmandu Post. Police suspect the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Chand) behind these attacks. The attackers torched and vandalised Ncell towers in remote areas where Police presence is minimum. Thousands of Ncell users have been affected due to service obstruction following the attacks.
Meanwhile, on July 31 CPN-Maoist-Chand cadres seized land and houses belonging to different individuals and organisations in Bardagoriya Rural Municipality in Kailali District of Province No. 7, reports The Himalayan Times. The land and houses were captured in the name of Tharuwan Autonomous Province Bardagoriya People’s Council Nepal. Banners that read ‘land seized’ were kept near the seized land. The Chand-led party cadres also hoisted flags on the captured land.
Separately, Police on August 1 arrested three cadres of CPN-Maoist-Chand on the charge of carrying out an arson attack on the ward office of Chandrapur Municipality-3 in Rautahat District of Province No. 2 on July 31, reports The Himalayan Times. The arrestees are Rehan Tamang, Man Bahadur Waiba and Reb Prasad Mainali.
