A private vehicle of a District Development Council member was damaged after an explosion in Surankote area of Poonch District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on September 15, reports Daily Excelsior. No injury was reported. “The personal vehicle of DDC member Surankote, Sohail Malik got damaged late last night after a mysterious explosion took place in front of his house, within the boundary wall,” the Police said.
Separately, Security Forces (SFs) on September 15 foiled a major terror attack with the arrest of a “hybrid militant”, identified as identified as Zaffar Iqbal of Bal-Angrala, from Plaasu Nallah in Reasi District, reports Daily Excelsior. SFs recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from a hideout and INR 1,81,000 in cash that was to be used for terror-related activities, Police said. Zaffar Iqbal is the brother of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant Mohd Ishaq, who was killed in an encounter with SFs in Rajouri District, Police added.
Meanwhile, three influential clerics from South Kashmir were detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) on September 15, reports Daily Excelsior. Among those detained are Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, patron Tehreek-e-Soutul Awliya, Moulana Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Abdul Majeed Dar Almadni of Jamiat-Ahle Hadees. These clerics and other persons were called by the Police and were later booked under PSA. A Police official said that they have been booked for hate speeches and anti-national activities which have potential to create law and order problems.
