A woman identified as Sanjho Devi, was killed while another woman identified as Phoolmani Devi, was injured in a landmine explosion triggered by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in Gotang forest in Latehar District of Jharkhand on January 16, reports The New Indian Express. The Maoists also fired indiscriminately after triggering the explosion. According to Police, the landmine was exploded when a group of women had gone into the forest to fetch fire-wood. When Security Forces (SFs) reached the spot after being informed about the incident, a gun-battle took place with the Maoists, following which the rebels escaped into the dense forests.
