A woman Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed in an exchange of fire with Security Forces (SFs) near the Korcholi-Todka Forest area under Gangaloor Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on March 21, reports The Indian Express. An anti-Maoist operation was conducted near the Korcholi-Todka Forest area after information that the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), an armed wing of the CPI-Maoist, ‘commander’ Vella, and Gangaloor ‘Area Committee Member (ACM)’ Dinesh, were present in the area. A team comprising officials from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched the operation. "During the search operation after the encounter, the dead body of a female Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] cadre in uniform, along with a 12-bore rifle, was recovered from the spot. All security personnel are safe, and further search operations are being carried out in the nearby area," a Police official said.
