A Government employee was killed and 30 people sustained injuries in a suicide bomb attack by suspected Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner in the Gazipur district on December 1, according to Daily Star. Police arrested the severely injured suicide bomber, who was in the guise of a tea-vendor, from the spot immediately after the blast. The suicide bomber, identified as Abdur Razzak, claimed that he is a JMB member.

A police contingent moving towards the Probhati Club near Habla Government Primary School, subsequent to receiving information about an assembly of 25 JMB cadres, were fired upon by the militants. A 15-minute long crossfire resulted in the injury to three police personnel while the militants managed to escape. Nine rounds of ammunition of shotgun and rifle were recovered from the spot.

"Some 22 kg of explosives including gunpowder, gel, iron chips and other bomb making materials were recovered from a hideout in northern Tangail late on Friday," the official said. Three militants were detained during the raid on the hideout and 27 others were arrested from different spots, where a number of live bombs were also recovered over the last 24 hours. Most of the detainees are believed to be cadres of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JuM).

The raids in those two districts also resulted in the arrests of JMB 'Rajshahi divisional chief' Shafiullah alias Tarik, two of his accomplices and Mymensingh 'area commander', Asaduzzaman. Four grenades, 12 bombs of different sizes, including a light-sensitive one, a sub-machine carbine, 80 electric detonators, 20 kg ammonium nitrate, gun powder, electric circuits, batteries, fuses, snail shells and iron balls used in fishing nets were recovered during the Mymensingh raid.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested a suspected JMB cadre, Abdullah Bhuiyan, of North Uttar Khan from Dhaka’s Uttara locality. Two suspected JMB cadres, identified as Farid Mollah and Maulana Mostaq Ahmed, were arrested from Baniachang sub-district of Habiganj district.
