Villagers of Gundampally in Warangal district chased PWG Naxalites and reportedly forced them to release an abducted leader of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Police sources said eight Naxalites belonging to the Narsampet Area Committee raided the house of a local TDP leader Bitla Ramchander and took him to the village outskirts on September 2-night. On seeing the Naxalites abducting Ramchander, his relatives and other villagers chased the Naxalites and caught hold of one of them. The Naxals opened 12 to 15 rounds of fire into the air. However, the villagers continued the chase and forced the Naxalites to release the TDP leader.

11 police personnel and a civilian were killed in a landmine blast triggered by left-wing extremists—Naxalites—of the People’s War Group (PWG) and the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC), in a joint operation, in the dense forests of Kaimur range in Rohtas district of Bihar on September 8. The Naxalites also took away six rifles, a revolver and a large quantity of ammunition. According to media reports, the vehicle carrying 12 persons was on its way to Tilauthu when it exploded killing all of them on the spot. A combing operation has reportedly been launched with the assistance of Central para-military forces after sealing off the district borders.

Speaking to the media, the district police chief said the surrendered Naxalites belonged to G Madugula and Peda Bayalu mandals (administrative unit). Having received intelligence information, the local police served surrender notices on their parents, also marking a copy to the sarpanches (village heads) of the respective villages. They also reportedly left a note warning the police as well as people against supporting him. Singh had vacated his ancestral home in year 2002 after the Naxalites killed his brother. According to media reports, approximately 10 Naxalites belonging to the Rachakonda Area Dalam (squad) raided the village and called Anjaiah out of their house and shot him dead. Anjaiah worked as PWG Naxalite in 1992 and was arrested by the police under Andhra Pradesh Security Act in 1993. Later, he joined the TDP. Earlier, the Naxalites had warned Anjaiah to resign their party post.
