Six trucks coming from Dimapur in Nagaland were set ablaze at Kopibung on the Imphal-Guwahati highway in the Senapati district. Six more were set on fire by another group of miscreants. Six persons from the Bura Fanchu and Longsing Engti villages were killed and hundreds of houses were torched by unidentified terrorists in separate incidents on October 9 under Diphu and Bokajan police stations in the Karbi Anglong district. The other affected villages have been identified as Monsing Ingti, Bura Terang, Kangthar Kro, Norik Teron, Diliram Terang and Longso. Assam Tribune, quoting eyewitnesses, has reported that armed miscreants came to the villages and opened indiscriminate gun-fire forcing the villagers to flee to safer places. Subsequently, the houses were set ablaze. N. N. Goswami, Additional Superintendent of Police in Karbi Anglong district, said that the killings are a result of the clash of interests between the United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) and Dima Halim Daogah (DHD). Consequently, the Army has been deployed in the area.

In the continuing ethnic clashes between Karbi and Dimasa tribals in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, suspected Dima Halim Daogah (DHD) militants killed nine cadres belonging to the United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) on October 21 at Tamulbari under Diphu police station. The Sentinel has reported that a group of 12 UPDS militants set 12 houses ablaze in the Kakubasti and seven houses in the Kishibam village. Subsequently, during their attempt to enter Tamulbari village, DHD militants ambushed the group and nine UPDS cadres were killed on the spot. The DHD militants decamped with the arms and ammunition of the slain militants. Separately, the dead body of a civilian was recovered from the Langcholiate area.
