Following the clashes, a group of 500-600 youths decided to attack the terrorist camps in retaliation. However, following the intervention of Lotha Hoho, the apex body of the Lotha tribe, a meeting was planned for August 15. Details on what transpired at the meeting are awaited. Some of these youths later ransacked the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha district.

According to delayed media reports, on September 25 night, the breakaway Nayanbashi Jamatiya faction of the NLFT killed two senior activists of the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and abducted another, who is also suspected to have been killed later. This incident occurred in Takarjala, a remote block under the Bishalghar subdivision in West Tripura district. Later, on September 26, at the same location, Kendraichara Village Development Committee chairman and IPFT leader Sudhir Debbarma was killed by terrorists of the NLFT-Nayanbashi faction. The IPFT has close links with the Biswamohan Debbarma faction of the NLFT, with which the Nayanbashi faction is carrying on an internecine warfare. On September 27, a 12-hour bandh (general closure) was observed in Takarjala to protest the spate of killings.

According to media reports, on October 24, in a pre dawn attack, National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) terrorists attacked the Cease-fire Monitoring Cell (CFMC) office of its rival faction, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), at Dimapur. The CFMC was part of the operational structure, which have been set up during the ongoing cease-fire between the NSCN-IM and the Union government. The NSCN-K ‘Deputy Minister for information and Publicity’, K.Mulatonu, claimed that three NSCN-IM cadres had also been killed. However, contradictory police reports stated that only one NSCN-IM cadre was injured in the attack. Explaining the reason behind the attack, which tended to go against the momentum for peace building up in Nagaland, Mulatonu stated, "The NSCN-IM was using the CFMC office for all kinds of undesirable activities. We sent our boys in to Dimapur after a gap of reasonable patience."

Official sources while confirming the incidents added that more reports were emerging indicating an escalation of tension among the various terrorist outfits. Security forces have also stepped up their vigil to prevent the outfits from entering civilian areas. At least two terrorists were killed and 18 others injured when a grenade was thrown at one of the camps of the NLFT at Dudhpatil in the Sylhet district of Bangladesh on November 24. Media reports from from across the border indicated that the ATTF was responsible for this incident. Sources added that a NLFT ‘commander’, Ratnajoy Reang, had recently set up the camp opposite to the Khowai subdivision of West Tripura district, where approximately 50 cadres were camping.
