An unconfirmed report of June 21 indicated that fierce infighting occurred between the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF). An NLFT (Nayanbashi) contingent allegedly carried out a severe attack on an ATTF camp in Bangladesh that was reportedly led by Thomas Debbarma. Seven ATTF terrorists were killed in the attack. The NLFT terrorists also looted seven AK series rifles and a Self Loading Rifle (SLR) from the ATTF terrorists. In yet another attack, two ATTF women cadres were reportedly killed. The dates of these two incidents could not be ascertained. ATTF was also reportedly compelled to shift its main base camp from Satcherri in Bangladesh to a new place, opposite Sidhai in West Tripura district following a joint operation by Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Bangladesh Army personnel, on June 7. An unnamed Indian official was quoted as saying, "We have specific reports of BDR and Bangladesh Army’s joint operations on June 7 last. But before the clamp down the militants had been tipped off and they shifted their camps."

According to media reports, three terrorists were killed in an internecine clash between two rival factions of the proscribed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) in the Ghaniamara area of West Tripura district, on September 20. Media reports claimed that two terrorists of NLFT- Biswamohan Debbarma faction and one from NLFT-Nayanbasi Jamatya faction were killed in the prolonged gun-battle. However, the total numbers of casualties is yet to be officially confirmed. It should be noted that the Takarjala, Golaghati, Charilam and Bisramganj areas are strongholds of the NLFT, till the split in February 2001. Currently, the Nayanbasi faction dominates Golaghati, Charilam and Bagma areas. But Takarjala in Bishalgarh sub-division continues to be a stronghold of the Biswamohan faction, in which the other faction is trying to gain hold. However, according to media sources, police was not successful in operations against the NLFT in Takarjala, because of the alleged non-cooperation of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel stationed in the area.
