Delayed reports said a group of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons, barged into the house of a civilian, Manna Kumar Tripura, in Jamircherra area, Dhalai district, Tripura, on January 12, and after beating up the family members abducted his 20-year-old daughter Premlata. She was subsequently physically assaulted and thereafter killed. Officials from the Manu police station recovered the half-burnt body on January 13. A group of NLFT terrorists, allegedly in association with some "Bangladeshi criminals", shot dead a local businessman and his son in Assam Basti area of North Tripura district. His daughter who was injured in the attack died before she could be admitted to a hospital. The terrorists also abducted the businessman's nephew. A combined team of police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel, led by the district police chief Jaydeb Das searched the area following the incident and arrested a Bangladeshi national in this connection.
