A senior officer of the District Development Committee of the Kapilvastu district, Niranjan Poudel, was abducted by a group of armed cadres of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) from the Tirtikhi Village Development Committee area on January 9, Kantipuronline reports. Cadres of the Jwala Singh faction of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-J) abducted and subsequently shot dead a government servant, Purna Prasad Dhakal, in the Banke district on January 20, Kantipuronline reports. Dhakal, who worked as a clerk at the Land Reforms Office, was whisked away from Raniyapur village in Banke district on January 19-night, and his bullet-ridden body was found on January 20-morning three kilometers away from Sidhiniya Ghaat in the Gamdi Village Development Committee (VDC). An Armed Police Force (APF) head constable has been abducted by the cadres of the Jwala Singh faction of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-J) in the Kapilvastu district. Shyam Kumar Kashyap, who was stationed at the APF battalion in Bindabasini, is said to have been kidnapped three days ago, but this was known only on February 22. Police sources said that Kashyap was overpowered by JTMM-J cadres when he was deployed at the Krishnanagar custom office at the Nepal-India border of the district and then taken away to an undisclosed location. JTMM-J’s district in-charge, Abhay Singh, claimed responsibility for the abduction and said that their cadres also seized two Short Machine Guns and two Self-Loading Rifles from Kashyap.
